The 30" Aleon trunk opens such that it is an 80/20 split. This is very helpful in tight hotel closets and luggage spaces as in many hotels one is unable to open two halves of a suitcase - especially when traveling abroad. The Aleon is a bit on the heavy side but meets all of the airline requirements regarding maximum size - I have found that I reach the weight limits before I can fill it to the gills - not an issue for me. Overall I would strongly recommend using this trunk - most of the other suitcase makers are beginning to offer similar products because of the need for a "lid" to a suitcase.
